Richard P. “Butch” Miller, Jr, 71, of Niceville, Florida passed away peacefully Friday, July 14, 2017.  Butch was born on February 3, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Richard and Lenora (Brown) Miller.  He attended Choctawhatchee High School.  Over the course of his 50 year career, Butch worked at Eglin Air Force Base for numerous support contractors (Vitro, Bell TEXTRON, VSE Corporations, Sverdrup Technology, Inc. and SENTEL Corporation) as a Mechanical Designer and Draftsman, Engineering Drawing Specialist and Engineer Assistant. He enjoyed working and only recently retired in 2015 from Bevilacqua Research Corporation.  Butch was a kind, humble man who was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to all.  He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, as well as fishing, hunting and watching football.  He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Sr. and Lenora Miller.  Butch is survived by his children Chris (Christine) Miller and Meribeth (Brandon) Poole; grandchildren Madison Poole and Dylan Poole; brothers Mike (Pat) Stephens, Ralph (Shelia) Miller; former wife and good friend Sarah Miller; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held at Emerald Coast Funeral Home on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 2:00 pm with the family receiving friends one hour prior to service.  Interment will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery, Fort Walton Beach.  A special thank you to Dr. Mose Hayes and the staff at Sacred Heart Oncology and Dr. John Sites and staff at Magnolia Medical Clinic.  In lieu of flowers , the family is asking donations be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, 550 West Redstone Avenue, Suite 310, Crestview , Florida, or to your favorite charity.
