Mary C. Brunson, age 93, of Destin, FL, passed away on April 25, 2017. She was born on January 6, 1924 to parents Benjamin and Roxie Chambless. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Many in Destin affectionately knew her as “Aunt Mary” or “Granny”. She moved to Destin in 1938, married the love of her life and raised 8 children. She was a wonderful country cook and “famous” for her special version of cornbread. Even with a family of 10, there was always room for more seats around her table. She worked side by side with her husband Zack, running Zack’s Bait in Destin for many years. She loved to sew and garden, but her passion in life was caring for others, especially her children and grandchildren. Mary lived a full but simple life. She will be greatly missed but always remembered. 
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Zack, son Zack Jr, siblings, and beloved daughter-in-law, Freddie Brunson. She is survived by her children, James “Buddy” Brunson, Rikki (Michael) Nunnelee, Mary Anne (David) Liberatore, Ronny Brunson (Brenda Hunt), Roger Brunson, Clay (Jacqueline) Brunson, and Debby (Carl) Stroud; her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Christy) Brunson, Karen Brunson (Brad Wilson), Carly Nunnelee, Matthew (Starla) Nunnelee, Mikel Adler, Joanne (David) Valdez, Ronni Lee (Eric) Sigoloff, Clay (Amanda) Brunson II, Cole (Chelsea) Brunson, Chase Brunson, Erica Stroud (Adrian Watson), Jenna (Eric) Shackelford, and Scott Brunson; and many great-grandchildren 
A funeral service will take place on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 1:00pm at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Destin Memorial Cemetery. Flowers will be received by the family or donations may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Emerald Coast Hospice for their loving care and support.
