December 10, 1929 ~ June 2, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

William M Loalbo (Poppop)

12/10/29 – 6/2/17

The family of William (Bill) Martin Loalbo joyfully welcome their loving husband, father and grandfather to the beautiful Kingdom of Heaven. Bill passed away peacefully on June 2, 2017, at the home of his daughter, Andrea McArthur, in Destin, FL. Bill was surrounded and comforted by his wife Marie (Bunny) Loalbo and several of his many loving children and grandchildren as he was welcomed to the warm embrace of his Father. Bill was welcomed into Heaven by his parents John Loalbo and Lillian Margaret Loalbo, his brothers John Loalbo, Eddie Loalbo, Bobby Loalbo; and his sisters Mary Bidorini, Peggy Hearth, Helen Ashland and Catherine Sharrow.

Bill was born in Rockville, CT on December 10, 1929. He proudly served in the US Navy from June 1948 to October 1952 on the USS Putnam. That time in the military served to give his children and grandchildren scores of fun stories, memories and songs that always brought smiles as he shared a colorful past full of patriotism and pride, sprinkled with a hint of mischief.

After the Navy, Bill worked as a supervisor of aircraft x-ray for Pratt & Whitney – United Technologies, eventually retiring there in 1990.

Bill married his loving wife Marie (Bunny) Russo and raised five children. Unlike most of us that stress our way through life, Bill thrived these 87 years with an unmatched ability to patiently whistle a tune through any of life’s stressful moments. Nothing brought Bill more joy than spending time in his workshop or garden; the places he taught his children and grandchildren about patience, creativity and love.

Bill will be missed every single day by his wife Bunny and his children, Cathy Walker and husband Zeb, Andrea McArthur and husband Paul, Daniel Loalbo, Ann Birdsong, and Juli Loalbo. He will be missed more than words can even attempt to express by those that called him ‘Poppop’ including the 16 grandchildren he adored: Christopher Walker, William Walker, Alex Walker, Elijah Walker, Ryan McArthur and wife Beth, Daniel Foerste, Olivia Foerste, Amanda Simpson and husband Kevin, Selena Foerste, Gregory Foerste, Daniel Birdsong, Joshua Birdsong, Faith Birdsong, and Samantha Glick; and his three great-grandchildren, Taylor McArthur, Landen McArthur and Quinn Simpson. Bill is also survived by his sister Rose Prichard, brother Richard Loalbo and wife Susan, and countless nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Destin, FL, at 10:30am, Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Graveside Committal Services will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Gulf Cemetery, 1466 S Co Hwy 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL.

The family would like to thank Angels Home Health and Regency Hospice for the dedicated care they gave Bill and the caring support they provided to his family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Spina Bifida Association at http://spinabifidaassociation.org/donate.
