William Edward Clausen, 96, of Mary Esther Florida, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A funeral service will be held at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, Fort Walton Beach FL. on Friday 28 July at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
William Edward Clausen was born in Minnesota to Freda and Claude Clausen. Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. With a gift for mechanics he was assigned as a crew chief in bombers. He flew multiple combat missions and was highly decorated, earning the Bronze Star, an Air Medal, WWII Victory Medal and 11 other decorations. After the war, he was released from active duty but when the Korean War started he immediately re-enlisted. He retired from the Air Force in 1962 as a Senior Master Sargent. He then went on to a distinguished career with McDonnel Douglas and Boeing in St Louis Mo. He fully retired and relocated to Florida in 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Jean Clausen; Daughter Marilyn Grizard, Son William A. Clausen, step son Keith Thorn, step daughter Pamela Baker and grandchildren Michael, Kelsey, Austin, Mack and Madison.
