My sympathy to the family upon hearing of Wayne's death. I enjoyed visiting with him as a Covenant volunteer and I visited him even after he was off the program. It sounded like he enjoyed life.

I knew Wayne through Joyce. They were such a wonderful couple and many will miss him. May God give you the strength, Joyce and family, to make it through these difficult times. Many of your friends will be thinking about you.

Wayne played golf with us every week and we miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Joyce at this very difficult time. He and Joyce were ardent Alabama fans. and watched every game. He will be missed by so many people, he touched their lives in so many ways. Rest in peace dear friend.

Was it his blue eyes, his tender smile, his hair with every strand in place or the feeling of pure love and gratitude shown to me while caring for him that drew my heart so close to Mr Driver? While viewing and reviewing the tribute video I was drawn to the many roles he played in his 89 years. The common thread for each of them was the selflessness in his service to others, from his spouse that he lovingly referred to as Mom, his daughters that he never missed the opportunity to tell them how much he loved them, his grands that he proudly displayed in photos around his room and all of his other family members that he loved so much. His service and dedication to our country and his participation in organizations that poured into others was the epitome of this sweet man, but the most important role was the relationship he had with Jesus Christ. I loved the stories he shared of being raised the son of a pastor, the favorite gospel songs we would sing together, and although dementia had clouded his mind, he never missed a word or note to the tunes that were a big part of his predementia life. At Chautauqua he was our welcoming committee chairman when we had a new resident arrive and our biggest cheering fan for those who graduated home. He was the police officer at the intersection of the rehab wing and often knew more than he probably should about the day to day happenings. I'm going to miss so many things about Mr Driver, like his love for Alabama football and his pure disgust for Auburn which led to a daily battle between the two of us, his desire to fire coach Saban after one loss regardless of the number of national championships he had won, the frequent complaints of what he thought was a bad haircut, the morning coffee that he ordered for himself "and one for all of my friends too." I'm going to miss the frequent conversations with his daughter Pam, who made sure he felt happy, loved and care for daily. I'm going to miss so much about life that was centered around Mr Driver because let's face it, he brought out the very best in each of us. Until we meet again, Patsy (the keeper of the keys)

Wayne Driver (Papaw is how I knew him) was a wonderful, loving man who ALWAYS had a kind word and a hug ever time I saw him. His kindness and generous nature was the first thing you noticed and then his humorous remarks would follow and never failed to keep you smiling..... I will miss this Patriarch of one of the best families I’ve ever had the privilege to know and love all these years. What a loss to us, but Heaven gained one very fine Angel - thoughts, prayers and love to you all tonight....

Once in awhile a special person comes into your life and you are blessed because you got to know them. This is how it was from the moment I met Mr. Driver. He had a great since of humor, I don't know of the times he and I shared a good laugh. He had a way about him that put everyone he met at ease. He loved to talk about his life on the farm and of his love of education. Above all of that the thing he loved to talk about the most was his precious wife and his family. Mr. Driver, it was the greatest privilege to get to know and care for you. Fly high sweet man .. Roll Tribe Roll
