Wanda Kay Harvell peacefully left this earthly life on September 26, 2022. Wanda was born October 28, 1951, in Ravenna, Ohio to Hollis Hayes and Mary Kathryn (Kay) Harvell. As the oldest child of a military family, Wanda was a seasoned traveler by the time she was 12 years old, living on bases in Biloxi, Eglin, Alaska, and back to Eglin (by car!) before settling in Fort Walton Beach in 1963. Being the oldest also meant helping take care of her six siblings, and later her siblings’ children, giving each of them their own unique nickname.
Wanda loved taking care of her home, working in her yard, and her cat, Dougie Fresh. She would be the first to decorate for the holidays and the first to clean up after a storm. The memory of her genuine personality and her infectious laughter will warm our hearts forever.
Her father, Hollis Harvell, and her nephew Daniel Harvell predecease Wanda. She is survived by her mother, Kay Harvell; brothers, Tommy Harvell (Alice), Randy Harvell (Tommye), Danny Harvell, and Nicky Harvell (Greer); sisters, Melody Rodgers (Richard), Cindy Dunn (Barney); nieces, Heather Ferguson (Adam), Katie Harvell (Doug), Holly Barr (Wes), Randee Kelly (Brent); nephews, Thomas Harvell, Jonathan Harvell (Amy), Ross Harvell (Leisha), Nicky Harvell (Lauren), John Dunn, David Harvell (Kendall) Chase Rodgers (Savannah) and numerous great nieces and great-nephews.
A special thanks from her family to the following caregivers at Fort Walton Beach Rehabilitation Center: Julius Kuirq, Dylan Creamer, Lisa Stoops, Sonja Cabido Maggy George, Heather Taylor, Diane Harrell, and Cindy Cuson.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment to immediately follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
