Wanda Joyce Avery was a caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world on March 15, 2023, at the age of 64. Wanda was born to Levaughn and Lynette Jackson on May 26, 1958, in Crestview, Florida. After graduating from Baker School, she earned a B.S. in Medical Technology and M. Ed. at UWF. She served in the Okaloosa County School District from 1984-2019 as a Teacher, Dean, Assistant Principal, and Principal. During those years, Wanda positively impacted the lives of her students and colleagues. She lived a fulfilling life and enjoyed the beach, concerts, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Wanda is survived by her loving husband Bill Avery, children Tara McLeod(Jeff), Megan Dotson(Andrew), Ian Avery(Laurel), Allison Warren(Andy), grandchildren Brooklyn, Maggie Grace, Isabella, Logan, and Avery, parents, Levaughn and Lynette Jackson, sister, Linda Jordan(Jesse) and nieces April McDaniel(Ritchie) and Jennifer Augustine (Ronita).
A celebration of her life with family, friends, and former coworkers will occur in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to Children in Crisis and the American Cancer Society.
