Virginia Kay Sequeira

Virginia Kay Sequeira, age 70, of Shalimar, FL, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020.  A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Emerald Coast Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  A complete obituary will follow later.

Virginia “Kay” Sequeira, age 70, of Shalimar, Florida passed away on October 13, 2020 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with her family by her side. 

The daughter of Melvin and Mary Stuckey, Kay was born March 24, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri.  When she was young, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

Phoenix is where she met the love of her life, Stephen “Danny” Sequeira, who blessed her with 54 beautiful years of marriage.  Danny joined the Air Force shortly after they were married.

Kay gave birth to their first child, Lisa Kaye, while still in Arizona and gave birth to their second child, Stephen Daniel (Steve) in San Bernardino, California a year later.

Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends. She loved family gatherings, playing cards and shopping trips. A child of God, she was kind and compassionate.  She loved animals and rescued many in need of a home, a trait she passed to the rest of her family. 

One of the highlights of Kay’s life was becoming a grandmother.  She was so proud of her three grandchildren: Chris, Kaci, and Katie.  Spending time with them gave her great joy.  Kay was such a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her family deeply and always made them feel special.

Kay worked as a Payroll Assistant in the Accounting Department at Eglin Federal Credit Union.  She loved her job and her coworkers became life-long friends.  After 27 years at the Credit Union, she retired to watch her first great-grandchild, Aiden, where she fondly became known as “GiGi.”  She was later blessed with two more great-grandchildren: Kaylea and Cameron.

We all share many special memories. Mourning her passing are her loving husband Dan, son Steve, daughter Lisa and her husband Robert, grandson Chris and wife Brittany, granddaughter Kaci and husband Ryan, granddaughter Katie and husband Duane, great grandchildren Aiden, Kaylea and Cameron, and 4 cats who also adored her.  She is also survived by many other family members and friends for whom she dearly loved. 

A celebration of Kay’s life will be held at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Rd NW, Fort Walton Beach, FL, on October 24, 2020.  Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and the service celebrating her life will begin at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Kay may consider making a donation in memory of her to one of the local animal shelters.
