Victoria “Vickie” Ann Zalesky of Shalimar, Florida passed away on April 20th, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 76 years old.
Vickie was born on July 20th, 1945 to Hector and Victoria Hill in Gary, Indiana. She graduated from Andrean High School in 1963, and later went on to receive an Associate’s degree from Northwest Florida State College.
She married her husband, Gordon Zalesky, in Grandview, Missouri on November 6, 1971. She is survived by her husband Gordon and 4 children; Tammy Hornsby-Fink with her spouse Loni, John Hornsby with his spouse Erin, Tanya Ford with her spouse Carlos, and Troy Zalesky with his spouse Kristi. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren Matthew, Nathan, Allie, Zachary, Dylan, Jordan, Keosha, Yvonne, Zachary, Ziggy, and Canyon, and her 2 great-grandchildren Ace and Kai.
Vickie was the youngest of 7 siblings and is survived by her brother, Thomas Hill, with his wife Mary Lee, and brother Richard Hill. She was predeceased by her brothers Tony, Edward, John, and her sister Agnes.
Vickie had a long career at Metric Systems/DRS in Fort Walton where she ultimately retired from. After her retirement, she volunteered with the Community Emergency Response Team and enjoyed many arts and crafts hobbies. She was also an adamant animal enthusiast, especially when it came to caring for her beloved pet Chihuahuas.
There will be a Visitation at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Road NW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547, held Tuesday, April 26th, 2022, from 5 PM to 7 PM. The memorial service at Emerald Coast Funeral Home will begin at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 27th, 2022, and will be followed by a graveside service at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
Memorial donations are recommended for the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Vickie’s long-fought battle against this disease.
