Verda Marie Cross

Verda Marie Cross, 83 of Fort Walton Beach, Florida - devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, passed away February 18, 2019.

Verda was born in 1935 in Glassport, Pennsylvania to Conrad and Helen Marie Hart.  On December 21, 1953 she married James Edward Cross in Maryland.  Verda worked for more than 30 years in the grocery retail business, making friends everywhere she went and her customers loved her as well.  She enjoyed her time spent with the church weekly craft group and their lunches.

Verda is survived by her son, James E Cross Jr and his wife Cynthia of Missouri City TX; one grandchild, James “Trey” E Cross III and his wife Bhavika of San Antonio TX.  Verda was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years James “Jim” Cross; her parents, Conrad and Helen; her brother Conrad and her son, John.

A graveside service  will be held at Beal Memorial Cemetery, located at 316 Beal Pkwy NW, Fort Walton Beach on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Verda’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.  Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.emeraldcoastfuneralhome.com
