Sophie Anna Moraczewski

Tribute

Anne Sophia Moraczewski went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2019 after a long illness.  She was born December 14, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Henry and Sophia Franz and was one of 13 children. After graduation from high school in 1944, she worked as a clerical secretary for the Milwaukee Railroad. She married Thaddeus Moraczewski in Chicago on April 27, 1946 and moved to South Bend, Indiana where Thaddeus attended and graduated Notre Dame University. They remained in South Bend until 1965 when they moved to Troy, New York. They retired to Fort Walton Beach in 1985.

During her lifetime, Anne was a mother, homemaker, babysitter, waitressed, managed a coffee shop and was the head deli manager at an A&P grocery store. Her hobbies included gardening, especially cultivating many varieties of roses, and listening to country western and gospel music. She had an excellent singing voice. She was known for cooking Polish and German dishes. Notre Dame Football and basketball games were a passion.  She enjoyed her grandchildren and watching them grow and mature into successful professional adults. She was able to attend all five of her grandchildren's weddings except one due to poor health.  While living in Troy, NY she and Thaddeus built and finished many pieces of classic furniture using pine, cherry and walnut for family members. They also restored antique pieces.  Her favorite travel trips included Israel with her son, Thomas in 1987 and a trip to Switzerland and Paris, France in 1988 with Thaddeus, her daughter Cherylynn, son Thomas and grandson, Alexei.  While living in Fort Walton Beach, she and Thaddeus maintained and landscaped their large property with dozens of flowers, shrubs and trees for passersby to enjoy.

Anne was proceeded in death by her parents, husband August 10, 2004 and ten siblings: Henry, Molly Deckert, Frederick, Marie Anderson, Emile Hielig, Dorothy, Ruth Grothenick, Edward, Harold, and Robert and son-in-law, Dr. Carl Boyd.  Survivors include 5 children: twin daughters, Carolynn (Dr. Robert) Riddle, Goshen, IN, Cherylynn Boyd, Culver, IN, Dr. Thomas (Neelam) Moraczewski, Orlando, FL, Dr. Terrence (Mojgan) Moraczewski, Alpharetta, GA. and Philip Moraczewski, Fort Walton Beach, FL.  Grandchildren include: Michael (Deletha) Boyd, Chandler, AZ, Jeffery (Naomie) Riddle, Canton, MI, Dr. Alexei (Dr. Jennifer Negrin) Moraczewski, Winter Haven, FL, James (Pamela) Boyd, Hillsboro, OR, Alya Gennaro, San Francisco, CA, Dr. Laila Salts, Norfork, VA, Jason and Jordan Moraczewski. Alpharetta, GA, and Justin and Kevin Moraczewski, Brooklyn, NY. Great Grandchildren include Somantha and Andrew Boyd, Jane and Claire Boyd, Liam and Landon Moraczewski, and a great granddaughter to be born in December, 2019.

Anne was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church for many years. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 12:30 P.M. at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
