Scott Alan Van Dyke passed away unexpectedly and way too soon in Fort Walton Beach, FL on January 20, 2022, at the age of 62. Scott was dedicated and loyal to his family and his work. Scott was a lifelong resident of Fort Walton Beach. He was a Choctaw grad and joined the Army for a tour in Germany as a surveyor, where he developed a love of photography. He then went to work for Choctaw Engineering, where he committed his entire career of over 40 years!
Scott loved his cats and dedicated many years volunteering at Save Our Cats and Kittens Shelter Thrift Store (SOCKS). He was called on by many to “cat sit” and he would always remind them to leave the music on for the cats. For the last ten years, he has been volunteering at Repeat Street Thrift Store where he was known as the “Music Man” because he always had music playing while he meticulously prepared the music and technology for the thrift store. Scott was generous, loving, and loyal to not only his family, especially his many nieces and nephews, but to so many. He will be greatly missed!
He was preceded in death by his father, John Alan Van Dyke of Niceville. Scott is survived by his mother, Joan Simmons, his brother Trent (Marline) Van Dyke of Port St. Joe, brother Mark Van Dyke of Santa Rosa Beach, his nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Blake) Edwards, Kevin (Ashlee) Van Dyke, Chandler Van Dyke, Chase Van Dyke, Fischer Van Dyke, Hayden Van Dyke, and six great nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Emerald Coast Funeral Home on January 26, 2022, at 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm with interment immediately following at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
