Sarah Margaret Belser Miller

Sarah Margaret Belser Miller, 73, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully in her home, with her children by her side, on the morning of Saturday, July 4, 2020.

She was born on August 22, 1946, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, to Murdock Belser and Mary Commander Belser.  She attended Walton Elementary School until 1959 when the family moved to Freeport, Florida.  There, she attended Freeport Elementary School and Walton High School. She graduated in 1964.

She married “Butch” Miller in 1967 and had their first child, Chris in 1969 and then Meribeth in 1973.  She was a loving mother.  She always attended baseball & basketball games and dance classes.  Although Butch & Sarah divorced in the mid 80’s, they kept a friendship throughout the years, and they were always there to support one another when needed.

Over the course of her 45-year career, Sarah worked at Eglin Air Force Base for numerous support contractors, beginning with Vitro and BAE Systems.  She started out working as a secretary and ended up being one of the most respected Executive Administration Assistants in the area.  She enjoyed the structure work provided, and she loved the social side of having so many co-workers and friends.

Sarah was a devout Christian and gave her heart to the Lord early in life.  She lived the phrase “it’s better to give than to receive.” She was very active in her church throughout her lifetime and after retiring.  She love volunteering and being a part of the Sharing and Caring Team in Ft. Walton Beach.  In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her friends, going on casino trips, seeing her grandchildren, and reading.

Sarah is survived by her son; Chris (Christine) Miller of Niceville; Daughter, Meribeth (Brandon) Poole of Ft. Walton Beach; grandchildren, Madison and Dylan Poole; Brother, William (Bill) Belser and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2:00 P.M.  Interment to follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery. Those who wish to honor her memory are asked to make a donation to the Ft. Walton Beach branch of Sharing & Caring in her name.  The family appreciates the prayers, love and support of so many during this time of loss.
