Sara (Pahnelas) Karis

Sara Karis age 85 of Shalimar passed away on May 1, 2018. Sara was born in Hopewell, VA. to parents Vasilios and Malama Pahnelas. Sara an accomplished concert pianist, lead the church choir for over 10 years ,she was a woman of great faith. A  loving mother, wife and grandmother who traveled the world with her husband of 67 years C. Sayre Karis. Sara is preceded in death by her parents, brother Nicholas and sister Elizabeth. She is survived by her husband C. Sayre Karis, children: Derek William Karis, Christopher Sayre Karis and Melanie Anne Pagiotopoldus, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Sara will be missed by all. The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm on Friday, May 4th  at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Saint Markella and Dememtrios Greek Church in Mary Esther on Saturday, May 5 at 11am. Interment will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in honor of Sara to the American Cancer Society.
