Sara Brooks Clemons went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 15, 2023.  She was born in Albany, GA on February 18, 1935.  Sara was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend of 30 years, Dr. Roy L. Clemons, mother Annie Culotta Floyd, father Henry A. Floyd, sister Patricia F. Hazen (Rev. Cecil Hazen) and daughter Cynthia Brooks Meadows.  She is survived by her daughter Patrica Brooks Gordon (Dean), son John W. Brooks III (Kay), son-in-law Hap Meadows, stepsons James Clemons (Cheri), John Clemons (Wendee), Grandchildren Kenny Duncan Jr. (Pamela), John W. “Will” Brooks IV, Sara Brooks Taylor (Jeffrey), four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Lucas, and Adeline Duncan, and Swayze Taylor. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Sara accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a child, and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Albany, GA. She later moved her membership to First Baptist Church, Fort Walton Beach. She sang in the choir for many years. Reading was one of her favorite pastimes. She loved music and dancing, and she and her husband traveled often. Sara was an excellent skier, both on water and snow. Most Christmases were spent in Aspen, Colorado, and summer vacations included traveling in the United States and abroad making wonderful memories of their good times together. Sara was Billy Bowlegs Queen XXIV. Sara worked in the emergency room as a Hospital Auxiliary volunteer at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. Sara joyfully served there and was a blessing to many. 

Sara was a perfectionist and created uniquely decorated eggs depicting beautiful scenes of the nativity, Easter, and nature. She also designed and created elegant purses from ostrich eggs. 

Sara will be lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her. 

Visitation is Tuesday, November 21, at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Brooks Memorial Cemetery.
