Sandra Moree Shirah

Sandra Moree Shirah, 79 years of age, passed away on the evening of Saturday, July 20, 2019 surrounded by loved ones in Destin, Florida.  Sandra was born August 19, 1939 in Sylvester, Georgia to the late Martin Van Buren Moree and Geneva Moree. She was the second child of four children, one preceded her in death.  At the age of 14, Sandra married the love of her life, Big Jimmy Shirah, who she was married to for 60 years.  Jimmy and Sandra began their life together in Destin, Florida where they had four children - Gayle Roy, Little Jimmy Shirah, Andrea Bacon and Amanda Lively. Sandra is reunited in heaven with her loving husband and two children, Little Jimmy and Andrea. Sandra loved to spend her days roaming Walmart, reading her bible, cooking, catering to her two cats and spending time with family. Sandra devoted her life to taking care of others and always put everyone before herself. Nobody ever left her house hungry. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with and she will be so severely missed. Sandra leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her children, 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren (with one on the way), the spouses of her children/grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a community of loved ones.  A visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Destin, 154 Calhoun Dr., Destin, FL 32541 followed by a funeral service at 2:00 P.M.  Interment will take place at Marler Cemetery.
