S.R. "Walt" Walton

S.R. “Walt” Walton, age 88, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, formerly of Carrollton, GA passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Walt was born December 11, 1930 in Carrollton, GA to the late James Iverson Walton and Della Ruby Crews Walton. 

He worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant in Carrollton, GA from 1949-1951.  He joined the United States Air Force in 1951.  His military service brought him from Korea to Okaloosa County in 1953 to Eglin AFB.  He married the love of his life, Caroline Nadine Kilgore on December 25, 1953.  He left the Air Force after 4 years of service.  He worked for the Civil Service at Eglin until his retirement in 1976 as an electronic technician.  He became a general contractor for many years.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Nadine Kilgore Walton; his children, Steve (Dana) Walton and Elaine (Bob) Young of Fort Walton Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, Wendy, Tabitha, Mishayla, Lindsey, Kendall, Eelan and Ansley; eight great grandchildren, Zack, Lauren, Chase, Connor, Ella, Emma, Thomas and Sammy; his sister, Joyce Walton (Milford) Ballenger; and a host of many friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Emerald Coast Funeral Home with Brother Milford Ballenger officiating.  Interment will be in Beal Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 AM until the service time.
