Ruth Huels passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, with members of her family at her bedside. She was 100 years old. She was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Brooklyn, New York to Pedro Sepulveda and Rita Coronado Sepulveda.
Ruth moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1957. She retired from Fairchild Hiller in Crestview in 1985. She then became involved with Fort Walton Beach Medical Auxiliary and spent many hours in their gift shop.
Ruth was a devoted mother, a wonderful cook, and an excellent seamstress. She was an avid bowler and participated in many tournaments around the state. She loved the theater, bunko, and spending time with her friends and family.
Ruth is survived by her four children, Rita Long, Marie Battista, Arthur (and Kathy) Huels, and Thomas Huels; her 8 grandchildren, Jo (and Kim) Battista, Jessie Battista, Christine R. Jones, Joby Stuart, MaryLou Callahan, Lee Huels, Joshua Huels, and Jeremy Huels; and great-grandchildren Kelly, Leela, Cameron, and Hank.
The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice and the staff at the Meridian at Westwood for their compassionate help.
Ruth was a member of Saint Mary’s church since the 1950s. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Mary’s Church, Fort Walton Beach, on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 1 pm with visitation an hour prior.
