Roger George Carr (1939-2019)
Roger Carr, age 79, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, passed away on January 21, 2019 at a local hospital. He was born to Edmund and Marion (Whitney) Carr on March 18, 1939, in King City, Brooklyn, New York. His family moved to Massachusetts, where he resided for many years before making his home in Fort Walton Beach.
At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving his country for 10 years. Roger was Honorably Discharged in 1966 with 100 % disability. While in the military, he earned a GED (High School Graduate).
At the age of 55, Roger graduated from Okaloosa-Walton College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree. He learned and enjoyed playing his piano, saw many concerts and musicals, and enjoyed travelling.
Roger was very involved in Calvary Baptist church, singing in the choir, teaching children in the Masters Club, etc. He never met a stranger and was generous to all. He loved his family with a deep devotion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edmund & Marion Carr; brother, Richard Carr; son, Roger Carr, Jr; and brothers-in-law, Edward Mulhall and Bruce Alson. Roger is survived by his children, Jeffery Carr, Carol (Carr) Puzo, Mickey (Troy) Gaines, Barbara (Jason) Ward, and Kathryn (Ed) Deming; brothers and sisters, Barbara (Walt) Allner, Carole Olson, Shirley Mulhall, Sharon (Glenn) Barnett, and Gary (Beverly) Carr; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
