Robert W. Maurer (Bob), age 85, of Destin, FL., passed away on Nov. 22, 2019 in Monteverde, FL. Bob was born on September 12, 1934 in Philadelphia, son of Robert and Edna (Bower) Maurer, both deceased. He and his wife of 48 years, Loretta, were married in Omaha, NE where they lived for 26 years before moving to Destin.
He was a 20 year Air Force veteran who loved his military comrades and their devotion to country. He was happiest when around his military friends. When he retired from the Air Force, he joined A. L. Williams, which later became Primerica, and rose to the highest level in the company. He played soccer for the Air Force in Italy and loved to play tennis and golf as well.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta; his son, Robert (Norma); their children, Rachel, Adam, Bailey, and Carly; daughter, Diana Bryant and children, Sarah (Chris), Melissa (Jerome), Sam, Danny and Moses: daughter, Kelly (Michael) Hamsa and their children, Michael (Madison), Connor, Sydnee, and Wyatt. He also has four great granddaughters.
He is predeceased by sisters, Shirley and Doris and brother, Charles. He is survived by his brother, Dennis (Colleen) and sister, Sandy (Ken) and their children.
A memorial service with full Military Honors will be held on Saturday, November 30,, 2019 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Road, NW in Ft. Walton Beach, FL at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends one hour prior. A reception will also take place from 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home.
