Robert “Bob” Wesley Carroll passed peacefully on November 3rd, 2018 at his home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was born on September 4th, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland. Bob was a loving husband and father. He made his way to Florida through a 26 year career in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. His assignments included Homestead, Florida, where he met his wife, Roberta “Bobbie” (Roach); Loring, Maine; Ubon, Thailand; Westover, Massachusetts; Contwig, Germany; Zweibrucken, Germany; Grand Forks, North Dakota; and Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. Upon his retirement from the USAF, he began a second career as the Director of Homestead Hospital Plant Operations, Homestead, Florida. Retiring from his second career, Bob and Bobbie made their way to Franklin, North Carolina. After a few years, they missed the warm breezes of Florida and decided to move to Fort Walton Beach.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Ellsworth Carroll; his mother, Wilhelmina Lillian Carroll (Frank); his sister, Nancy Irene Carroll and brothers, Lawrence Charles Carroll, George Daniel Carroll, and Thomas Edward Carroll.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta; brother, Dennis and sister-in-law, Jean; Sister-in-law, Nancy Carroll; Daughter, Debra Lynn Gore and her husband Jeffrey; Son, David Wayne Carroll and his wife Sabrina (Kiker); grandchildren: Erin Clem (Chris); Lauren Davin (Mark); Candyce Carroll; Devin Carroll; Ryan Gore; great-grandchildren: Ashton, Reagan, and Margot; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on November 16th, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Road NW, Fort Walton Beach, Florida 32547. Visitation will start at 10:00 am.
