Richard C. "Dick" Johnson

Dick (83) passed away peacefully in his Mary Esther home Friday morning, November 30, 2018. He was born March 3, 1935 in his Elliot, Iowa home. He was the son of the late Clement Arthur Johnson and Pearl Julia Johnson.

He is survived by his four children; Mark Johnson (Denise), Laurie Reese, Kelly Carlstrom (Ray), and Julia Summers (John-Ross); eight grandchildren; Barbara Reynolds Vidal, Brandi Hotto, Ashley Johnson, Donnie Reese, Madison Carlstrom, Morgan Carlstrom, James (JT) Ritter, and Skylee Summers; two great grandchildren; Sofia Vidal and Adalynn Hotto; sister-in-law Pam Finley; nephews and nieces; Tony Johnson (Melissa), Allen Johnson (Michelle), Leanna Cerveny (Tyler), Suzanne Boynton (Robert), and many great nephews and nieces.

Dick was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years, serving as a military policeman. He took his first wife, Barbara, and children, Mark and Laurie, to a variety of military bases with one of their favorites being in Okinawa, Japan. Sadly, Barbara passed away in June of 1971.

After retiring from Hurlburt Field, Dick called Mary Esther home and opened the Ceramic Creation shortly before marring his second wife, Geraldine “Geri”. You could often find his children, Kelly and Julia, learning the art of ceramics, how to run a cash register, and even how to roller skate with dad at work. Sadly, Geri passed away in November of 2005.

Dick is proceeded in death by his father Clement Arthur Johnson, mother Pearl Julia Johnson, his first wife Barbara Ruth Johnson, his second wife Geraldine Susan Johnson, his brother Robert Lee Johnson, and his son-in-law Edward Byrant Reese.

Visitation with family will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 4:00 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Military Honor’s Ceremony will begin at 4:30. A Celebration of Life to include friends, family, and memories will follow.
