Norman R. Forsyth Sr., age 88, passed away at his home. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 17, 1933, to Raymond H. Forsyth and Nancy M. Forsyth. Norman will be remembered as a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Retired Air Force Veteran, Christian & die-hard Michigan Wolverines fan! 

Norman was a TSgt Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief, who honorably served his country for over 23 years and was honorably retired from active service on November 30, 1972. Norman received numerous awards while serving to include the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal / with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service award ribbon / with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Forsyth, his son Norman Forsyth Jr., and daughter Rhonda Brantley (Forsyth). Norman is survived by his son in law, Richard I. Brantley of Fort Walton Beach; his two granddaughters, Shannon M. Leicht of Pensacola, FL and Laura D. (Chuck) Townsend of Milton, FL; Great-grandchildren, Alan, Jacob, and Ethan Leicht, Ka’ena and Brianna Townsend as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Norman was a long-time customer of the Waffle House since the 1970s. He brought a smile to everyone’s face. The Waffle House staff loved him so much they even made him his own designated coffee mug, reserved seating, and gave him a plaque which is still posted at the Okaloosa Island Bridge Waffle House to this day! Norman loved everything bowling, so much he decided to work at the Hurlburt Field Bowling Center for 10 years. If anyone wanted a custom bowling ball made, Norman was the man to call!

The family will gather with friends for a public viewing on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Emerald Coast Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Beal Memorial Cemetery with full honors given by the Eglin Air Force Honor Guard and procession escorted by the Patriot Guard Motorcycle Riders Association.
