Emmanelle (Nelly) Agosta was born in Tunis, Africa on 27 October 1927 to Biagio Agosta and Angela Garziero. She discovered her lifelong passion for music when, at 15 years old, she began studying piano at the music conservatory in Tunis. At age 25, her family moved to the small town of Comiso, Sicily where she became the middle school music director, town band director, and church pipe organist. She also taught piano and accordion to the many students who took private lessons from her and enjoyed organizing town festivals and music events. In 1957, she married her late husband Emanuele (Nello) Gianní who passed away in 1998. After his death, Nelly continued to split her time between Italy and Fort Walton Beach, until Alzheimer’s forced her to quit traveling.
Nelly was blessed with a long life and passed away peacefully on 1 May 2018 at the age of 90. She is survived by her brother Wladimir Agosta of Marseille France, daughter Maricetta White, son-in-law Timothy White, and grandson Sean White of Fort Walton Beach Florida.
Visitation will take place at 2pm at Emerald Coast Funeral Home followed by funeral services. Interment will take place in Comiso, Sicily at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association of America.
