Tribute

Madear joined Beulah First Baptist Church and remained an active and dedicated member until her health no longer allowed her to serve or attend. Madear sang in various choirs, was a member of the Usher Board, served on several committees, and was a member of many organizations. Madear loved her church and the church families; taking time to personally welcome all new ministers and their families. Also, she was a founding member of the Butler Terrace Club.

Madear was a hard and dedicated worker, a housekeeper for several prominent area families, forming lifetime bonds with many of the children. The families never referred to as Ms. Ford or Ms. Minnie, always "Grandma."

Madear loved everyone and always encouraged everyone to get along and do the right thing and don't think she couldn't make it happen if you couldn't.

Madear was proceeded in death by her husband; William Ford, parents; Cyrus and Minnie Lou Bethune, siblings; Sarah Baggett, Emma Jane Reynolds, CJ Bethune, Fred Bethune, and Jimmie Lee Bethune; daughter in law, Margie Bethune; grandson, Frederick Bethune and a great grandson, Eric Justice.

Thursday, July 30, 2020, Madear's journey was complete, the gates of Heaven opened and God welcomed her home, "Well done my faithful servant, enter and take your rest.'

Leaving cherished memories of love are her SONS and daughter-in-laws; George Bethune, James (Barbara) Bethune, Walter Michael (Geraldine) Bethune; granddaughter she raised as her own, Melinda Goodman; adopted daughter, Anna McNabb; sister from God, Mrs. Ethel Woods; closest friends, Mrs. Pearl King and Mrs. Willie Primous; a host of grands, great grands, family and friends. Grand momma, Madear, Aunt Ruth, Cousin Ruth, and Mamma Ruth, was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
