Maureen “Mo” Weimers, age 85, longtime resident of Mary Esther, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2019.  Maureen was born to parents, William and Alta Wallace of Cohasset, Massachusetts.  Maureen served over 5 years in the USAF and met her husband at Donaldson AFB.  She loved to travel and take photos of the places she visited with her family.  Many countries in Europe, the Holy Land, Jerusalem, Egypt, Turkey, faraway places such as China, Australia, and traversed by auto the US multiple times.  Maureen was a loving wife, even tempered, mild mannered, kind hearted and a good mother who let her children mature without influencing their decisions.  She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cutting and stitching many a prom dress for neighbors, all sorts of crafts, and was an avid reader.  She truly loved the outdoors enjoying her time on the local waterways, the beach, and so many camping trips to our state parks.  For many years, she was a member of Mary Esther Garden Club and retired from METRICS/DRS of FWB.  After retiring, she spent her time with family and friends which kept her time occupied.  Maureen is survived by her husband of  63 years, William “Bill” Weimers of San Leandro, CA; her children, Deborah (Matt) Wills of Piqua, OH; sons, Steven Weimers and John (Gina) Weimers of  FWB; special friend, Penny; granddaughter, Jamie (Wayne) Slade of Bloomdale, OH.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Bob Hope Village Chapel on Hawthorne House Dr. in Shalimar, FL.  Maureen will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to AF Enlisted Village.
