Matthew Julian Plate

Matthew Julian Plate was born on July 24, 1985 in Fort Walton Bch, Fl. to Tamela Butler (nee Hopkins) and Thomas Plate. He passed away May 23, 2021 in his home in Pensacola.  Mathew was a 2003 graduate of Fort Walton Bch High School. He grew up in Destin, but lived in Tallahassee, Dayton Ohio, Crestview, and Pensacola throughout his life. He enjoyed football and was a huge fan of Florida State and Buccaneer's. He loved fishing and being on the water, he enjoyed fixing things, working on cars, hanging with family and friends.   He was a great cook and enjoyed sharing with everyone. Matthew would light up a room with his smile and was always ready for an adventure. He loved with all his heart, even as big and tall as he was, children always gravitated towards him. He loved to horse play with his nephew and nieces.

Matthew is survived by his mother, Tamela (James) Butler; father, Thomas (Cynthia) Plate; sister, Amanda (Josh) McDonald; sister, Sara (Nicolas) Gebbia; nieces, Abigail, Amayah, Alyssa; nephews, Seth, Dominic, and Maxwell.   Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl (Mildred) Plate; grandmother, Fern Hopkins; and brother, Andrew Schneider.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 3rd at Emerald Coast Funeral Home at 161 Racetrack Rd. N.W. Fort Walton Beach, Fl. 32547 ; Gathering from 2:00 -3:00pm followed by service 3:00-4:00pm.  A Celebration of Life will be held on June 6th from 4:00 - 8:00pm at Capt. Leonard Destin Park, 101 Calhoun Ave, Destin, Fl. 32541.
