Mary Agnes Pruitt

Mary Agnes Griffin Pruitt, a native of Fayette, AL, and longtime resident of Fort Walton Beach, FL, was born on December 8, 1934, to George and Ruby Griffin. She passed on Thursday, May 5, 2022. 

Mary, also affectionately known as "Mema", was raised in a Christian home and made her profession of faith in Jesus as her Savior on October 3, 1965. She faithfully served in churches in all the places she lived over the years. She loved working in the nursery and caring for babies the most. 

She graduated from Fayette High School and often talked about how much she loved school. When she left home, she moved to the YWCA in Birmingham before eventually meeting Joe Pruitt, on a blind date, who would be her loving husband for over 50 years.

Mary worked at the Eglin Federal Credit Union for over 20 years and loved the people she served on a daily basis. She characterized the word "kind" as much as anyone you could hope to meet. She was always thinking of others, caring, and compassionate. 

She loved flowers and working in the multiple flower beds in her yard. She also loved the birds, squirrels, turtles, and most recently a baby possum, that she would feed on the back patio.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two children Joanne Jolley (Bryan) and Bill Pruitt (Sonya); 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters; 1 brother; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Pruitt; her parents George and Ruby, and 3 brothers.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 2:00 PM with visitation prior from 12:00-2:00 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home on Racetrack Road.
