Maria M Rainey

Maria Margarete Rainey, aged 85, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, in Niceville, Florida. She was born on December 8, 1935, in Bleiderdingen, Germany. She married Alfons Konrad in 1954. She married Theodore (Ted) Howard Rainey on September 11, 1976.

          She was a longtime resident of Niceville, Florida, was an active member of the American Legion Auxillary, and enjoyed crocheting and hosting parties. She was patriotic and received her American citizenship on January 21, 1994. With her late husband, Ted Rainey, Maria's Fourth of July celebrations were full of vibrant laughter, live music, and tables of good American and German food. Her love of Scotty dogs was evident and she had several dogs over the years.

          She is survived by her son, Hans Albrecht, her five step-daughters, Glenda Sue Brittain, Carolyn Carneal, Barbara LePhew, Audrey Hixson, and Dorothy Cochran, her grandchildren Andrea Burrows, John Surber, Scott Surber, Keith Hixson, David Hixson, Merry Falero, Candace Cochran, Phillip Cochran, and Emily Cochran, and her great-grandchildren Garrett Burrows, Julia Burrows, Kobe Cloud, and Bella Falero among others. Her parents were Agnes Hartmann Werle and Otto Werle. Her sibling is Katharina Wahl of Germany. Her nephews, nieces, and friends were special to her and include Christine Zanetta, Katja Johnson, Faye Henderlight, Terry Ashley, Larry Fralic, Joann Fralic, Dottie Davis, and many others.   Her husband, Theodore Howard Rainey, her brother, Peter Werle, her sisters Lydia Schappert and Antonia Roth, and her granddaughter Jennifer Cochran, preceded her in death.

               A visitation will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home, Niceville, Florida followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Crestview, Florida.
