First Sergeant (retired) Louis Luna Sr, born in Plainville, Texas on November 18th, 1945, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, was called to Heaven on Friday, August 7th, 2020.
Louis was an honored retired Army veteran. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He was a Senior Drill Sergeant, Ranger, Master Parachutist, Ranger Instructor, and one of the original members of the 75th Ranger Regiment before retiring in 1985. After retiring from the military, Louis still wanted to serve. He did so by becoming a probation officer and an advocate for veterans, respectively. As a probation officer, Louis was able to guide and assist many. As an advocate for veterans, Louis was able to support his brothers and sisters in arms stateside.
His most important roles in life were husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Affectionately known as Pops, he always made himself available to all of his children and grandchildren. Pops was a man of unconditional and unwavering love. For both strangers and family alike, Pops was a trustworthy ally, the loudest cheerleader, the biggest supporter, and always encouraging.
He is survived by his daughter Julie Delgado (Mike) and his four sons, Louis Jr. (Becci), Rick (Sylvia), Victor (Melanie), and Eric (Trish); his 19 grandchildren, Cynthia, Michael, Valerie, Amanda, Alexandra, Matthew (Cassi), Allison (Emily), Louis, Ricky, Ariana, Jesse, Aiden, Mia, Zoe, Meliana, Victor II, Braeden, Brooklyn, and Brayla; and his 16 great grandchildren.
Due to unforeseen developments in reference to the coronavirus, the funeral arrangements for Louis Luna, Sr. has changed. Friends may visit the deceased at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Road NW on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 5 PM until 7 PM. The funeral and burial services will be private for the immediate family only at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 110 Saint Mary Ave SW. If so desired, friends may have flowers sent to the Emerald Coast Funeral Home.
