Letha Ruth (Cheathom) Florence

Letha Ruth Florence, 90, of Fort Walton Beach, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020, at her home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, October 9, 2020 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home with Pastor Alex Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born to Helen and Charles Barnes on October 20, 1930 in Pike County, AL. She was a sweet farm girl who developed a love for the Lord early in life. She spread the word to all those around her. As the oldest of the four children, her mothering instinct was natural. She was a selfless, kind spirited woman. Letha always helped those around her. Taught her family (and friends) many greats lessons in life.

Letha was proceeded in death by her brother and two sisters. She married Elijah Florence on November 9, 1959. They shared many glorious years, until his untimely death (2001). She loved the Lord, her family, many friends, and baking. Ruth was a grand homemaker and part time worker. 

She is survived by her daughter Daisy Mae; son William (Rita); stepson Thomas (Elaine); stepdaughter Queen Elizabeth (Dr. Jesse Grice); grandchildren Jonathan, Desiree, Frankie, Donella, Tammy, Jesse Jr., Michelle, Efrem, Ian, and James; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Letha will be remembered always and greatly missed.
