Julio S Gomez Aguilar

Julio Santos Gomez, age 83, of Navarre, Florida, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

Julio was born on April 12, 1939, in Puerto Cortes, Honduras to Carmen and Santos Gomez.  He then married Rosa Camila Flores on December 20, 1965

Julio enjoyed playing golf, traveling the world, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. He was viewed as the Patriarch of his family and was instrumental in changing the course of their lives as he helped his parents and siblings along with their families immigrate to the United States in the 1970’s and 1980’s.  In his early years, he worked for a steamship company and later worked in the oil and gas industry for Gray Tool Company.  He had the opportunity to live and work in Mexico City, Mexico, and Maracaibo, Venezuela.  He retired early and pursued his next adventure as an entrepreneur establishing Beachway Furniture (1987) in Panama City Beach, Florida.  Shortly after in 1992 he established The Patio Specialist in Navarre, Florida which is owned and operated now by his son, Ari Gomez (Stephanie Gomez).  Julio and his wife later traveled extensively throughout Central and South America eventually settling in Punta del Este, Uruguay, where they enjoyed the beautiful water views from their terrace, endless rounds of golf, gatherings with their cherished friends, and fun visits to the nearby casino.  They returned to Navarre, Florida in 2021.   He has been described as a visionary, businessman, fitness enthusiast, and lovingly referred to as “Man of Action”.  He will be dearly missed, but his family looks forward to the day they are reunited with him in Paradise.

Julio is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rosa C. Gomez; children, Astrid West and spouse, Randall R. West, Aristides Gomez and spouse Stephanie Gomez and Austin Gomez and spouse, Julie Gomez; grandchildren, Hillary, Marissa, Hannah, Gabriel, Julio, Carlos, Evelyn and Christian; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Brooklyn; siblings, Carmen Acosta, Sandra Key, Robert Gomez, Lelis Gomez and many brother and sisters-in-law as well as nieces and nephews. 

Julio is preceded in death by both his parents, Carmen and Santos Gomez, as well as his siblings, Digna Villanueva, Alberto Gomez, and Otilia Castro. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at The Chateau Golf Country Club, 3600 Chateau Blvd., Kenner, Louisiana 70065.
