Jean Sorensen

Jean Sorensen, of Fort Walton Beach Florida, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born in Norwich, England, the only child of Arthur and Elsie Hargreaves. She was married for almost 50 years to her loving husband Carleton E. Sorensen who preceded her in death in 2009.

Jean enjoyed life to the fullest and could light up a room with her beautiful smile and cheerful personality.  She belonged to several local organizations where she made many lifelong friends. She was an avid reader, enjoyed time in her garden, and had a soft spot for all animals. She loved to dance and was usually the first one on the dance floor and the last to leave!

Her family was her greatest joy and she would beam with pride when talking about her grandsons Nicholas and Philip. She was so deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed. Jean is survived by her son Glyn P. Sorensen and wife Lawrie, Dianne M. Barcelona and husband Philip, and grandsons Nicholas P. Barcelona and Philip C. Barcelona.

A celebration of life will be held on October 27, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private interment will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery. Flowers will be received by the family or donations may be made to S.O.C.K.S, a local cat shelter.
