October 21, 2017

Janice Brewer Brackin, 54, of Valparaiso, FL. passed away in the Lord’s arms on Saturday, October 21, 2017. She was born in 1963 in Geneva, AL. She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Brewer JR., and baby sister, Sherry Lynn Brewer. As a child, Jan was outgoing, humorous, strong willed, and compassionate. Her smile and personality were contagious. These qualities, along with her outward beauty, earned her the title of Junior Miss Geneva. Sadly, in 1984, she was in a horrific car accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury. With her strong will to live, her faith in the Lord, and the tremendous support from her mother and sister, she embraced her disability and set high goals for herself. She moved to Florida in 1998, and was baptized at Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, FL. Her first job was at Eglin Air Force Base with AAFES at Baskin Robbins. She loved flowers and took a class to learn to make the flowers on the cakes. She moved into different positions at the BX such as stocking shelves and checking ID’s at the main entrance. She loved her independence and was proud to buy her own home. She lived with her cat, Spirit, she enjoyed Christian music, cross stitching, crafts, gardening, and watching humming birds. Her most favorite activities were spending time with her mother, Gayle and her sister, Shawn, just eating ice cream on the front porch or making a day trip out of garage sales and the dollar store.

Janice is survived by her mother, Gayle and husband Joe Williams, sister, Shawn and husband David , son Zack Lowitz, her cat, Spirit, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to express great appreciation to all of the doctors and nurses in the ICU unit at Fort Walton Medical Center for their considerable efforts and compassion during our difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Make-A-Wish foundation. www.worldwish.org
