James D Matthews

   It is with a heavy heart that the family of James D. Matthews of Fort Walton Beach, FL announces his passing on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the age of 82 years old. J.D. will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Virginia E. Matthews and their 4 children, Sandy and Terry Browning, Tammy and John NewGarden, and their twin boys Danny and Darrell Matthews. He will also be fondly remembered by his 4 grandchildren, as well as his 3 beloved great grandchildren.
    Above all J.D. was a man of God, devoted to his family, and was a proud Veteran who served his country in the United States Air Force for 23 years. He also dearly loved his role as a Sunday school teacher to all his "kids" at Oakland Baptist Church.
     The Memorial will be held at Emerald Coast Funeral Home off of Racetrack Road at 10 AM to 11 AM. The Service will immediately follow from 11 AM to 12 PM at the same location. Burial with full Military Honors will take place at 2 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery within the Naval Air Station of Pensacola, FL.
      In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project or Oakland Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach, FL would be appreciated.
