Lieutenant Colonel James L. Johnson, USAF, Retired of Jackson, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2017.  He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, June L. Johnson.

He was born in Crockett County, Tennessee on December 8, 1932 to R.D. and Margurit Johnson.  He joined the United States Air Force in September 1950 and spent the next 30 years serving his country across the world. In 1980 he retired at Eglin Air Force base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida where he resided until 2011.  He was a faithful attender of First Baptist Church of Alamo, Tennessee.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Carolyn Bettis Johnson, his three sons, Jeff Johnson and wife, Jeanna; Jay Johnson and wife, Jimmie; and Jestin Johnson and partner Charlie Keanum.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM  with services to follow at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel followed by a entombment with full military honors at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 3733 U. S. 231, Panama City.Fl. 32404

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to First Baptist Church of Alamo, Tennessee, PO Box 241, Alamo, TN 38001.
