James Dale Bice

December 16, 1944 ~ July 16, 2020 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Tribute

On Wednesday, July 16, 2020, James Dale “Pops” Bice, loving father, grandfather and brother passed away at the age of 75.

Pop’s was born on December 16, 1944 in Ragland Alabama.  He worked 17 years at Capco before starting another career as a Truck Driver.  He drove for a number of companies over the years and retired in 2010 from Brown Exxon in Gadsden.  He married his high school sweetheart, Harriett Layton and worked hard his entire life providing for his family.  They raised one daughter Dale.

Everywhere Pop’s went he made friends.  He was never in a hurry to end a conversation.  Children were drawn to him for a hug and a laugh.  He enjoyed Western movies, Western novels, Alabama Football and a week didn’t pass without Street Outlaws.  You could always depend on him to offer you a chaw of Redman tobacco.  If you needed anything, he would find a way to help you.  Even up to his final days he ended every phone call with “If you need anything, call me….”

He is survived by his Daughter Dale (Eddy) Stone, grandson Logan Stone, 6 brothers and sisters, Jan (Mike) Ford, Charlotte (Billy) Tollison, Leamona (Johnny) Jones, Tammie Rainwater, Harold “Punk” (Bonnie) Bice, Wayne Bice along with numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his Mother Iona Bice, Father James Howard Bice, Wife Harriett and his sister Jane Harris.

The family will have graveside services on Saturday, July 25 at the United Methodist Cemetery in Ragland Alabama.  There will be a celebration of life event later in the year for his friends in Destin and Fort Walton Beach Florida.
