Tribute

Gus Alan Hargis, Jr., 76, Fort Walton Beach, FL, was called home by his Lord and Savior on December 22, 2021.  Gus Alan was diagnosed with neuropathy 3 years and 5 months ago with lung cancer.

Gus Hargis was a veteran of the United States Navy, and he proudly served our great country with honor and integrity.

Gus Alan was born and raised in Bolivar, Missouri, and remained a Missourian at heart.  Gus Alan moved to Florida with his surviving spouse, Juanita Hargis, 15 years ago.  They vacationed in this area for years where they fell in love with the weather, the beaches, the Emerald Coast, and everything it had to offer.

Gus Alan earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree and owned his own painting business for many, many years in Missouri.  Gus Alan was also a Major Supervisor and Parts Manager at Hudson’s, a chicken and turkey plant in Springfield, Missouri.  Gus always worked his way up and succeeded at every job he ever had.  This was due to the fact that he always took every job and every responsibility very seriously.  Gus Alan worked for 12 years at Tom Thumb Food Stores in Fort Walton Beach, FL, until he was forced to retire due to health issues.

Gus Alan was a wonderful and cherished husband, father, and friend.  His love and patience shined through everything he did.  Gus Alan loved the outdoors.  He loved to fish, hunt, and camp and took great pleasure of our many beautiful rivers and lakes in Missouri.

Gus Alan was more than a loving husband to his surviving spouse, Juanita.  He was my complete soul mate and best friend.  I owe my wonderful life and marriage of 35 years to my husband.  I have had such a special and fulfilling life because my man, Gus Alan, stood by me through major difficult times in my life.  Gus Alan will always be with me and missed by all.

Gus Alan is survived by his spouse, Juanita Hargis; daughter, Tina Nagy; granddaughter, Eden Nagy; grandson, Jacob Nagy; and cherished friend, Patricia Franka.  We feel such less fear in this uncertain world knowing that Gus Alan is now another of our blessed guardian angels.  “Well done good and faithful servant, may you rest in peace, and may perpetual light always shine upon you.”

We will hold a Celebration of his Life and a Celebration of his New Life with Christ in May, 2022, in Fort Walton Beach, FL on our beautiful Emerald Coast.
