Ginger Ann Walker, age 66, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her husband, daughter & dear friends. Ginger Walker was born in Ogden, Utah to parents, Tom & Helen Stewart. Ginger graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1970. She was the master of everything, always learning & furthering her career. After graduating from High School, she studied Business at Weber State University & received a BS in Business administration from the University of West Florida in 2004 & countless other degrees & certificates. Ginger also received countless awards throughout her civil service career & recognition for her work in the community. Her attention, drive & focus was on community & making this world a better place one event at a time. Ginger was a trustee for the Sons of Italy, was a member of the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce-Board Directors & served as Chair for Bowlegs Festival for many years & Emerald Coast Foundation Secretary for over 10 years. She served as a volunteer for many organizations such as Children in Crisis, Shelter House, Okaloosa Coalition on the Homeless, Children’s advocacy center, Little Black Dress Party, Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation, Boys and Girls Club & Opportunity Place. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, Xi Mu Rho, Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Krewe of Chameleons Founding Member, & a nominee for the Athena Awards in 2008. Ginger never let sickness rob her of the life she wanted to live. She was courageous, selfless and kind. She also loved to travel &fell in love with Ireland on one of her many trips. Another love of hers, next to her husband, was Mickey Mouse! Making a difference & serving in the community was a passion of hers. It was known that if you were anywhere near an event she was involved in, you were quickly “VolunTold” to carry out a task for her. Ginger always went above & beyond when she gave so freely of herself & her time to support the many charity & community events she was involved in - truly a pillar of this community & will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, John Kendrick Walker II; daughter, Fonda Goodson; grandsons, Caleb (Carly) Goodson and Brandon Goodson; siblings, Tom (Louise) Stewart, Frankie (Manuel) Martinez, George Stewart, Timothy (Debra) Stewart, Sherrie (Larry) Laub, & Connie (James) Roska & numerous nieces & nephews. Ginger is preceded in death by her parents, Tom & Helen Stewart & sister, Lavon Stewart. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 6:00 P.M. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Rd. NW, Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32547 followed by a funeral service at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Lady Ginger Walker Scholarship Foundation, donations can be made to John Walker or Fonda Goodson.
