Gabriel J Gutierrez

Gabriel Jake Gutierrez, age 19, born on April 16, 2003, in RAF Lakenheath, England, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023. Gabriel grew up mostly in Navarre, FL, graduating from Navarre High School in 2021. Upon high school graduation, Gabriel continued his academics at Pensacola State College. He earned his Associate of Arts degree in Chemistry and was elated to pursue studies in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Florida. He began his studies at UF in August of 2022 and was happy to be a part of the Gator Marching Band. A highlight of his college years was his recent trip with the Gator Marching Band to Ireland over Spring break performing in the Cork St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Limerick International Band Championship, and Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Festival.

Gabriel was an avid reader, chess player, climber, musician, and cycler. He enjoyed sports and the outdoors, and it was not uncommon to see him climb trees, roofs, or rock walls. He loved being outside and getting dirty. He was passionate about his academics and held high standards for himself. He loved eclectic music and outdoor games. He was a real competitor, challenging his own limits. He enjoyed participating in the marching band and bonding with his bandmates both on and off the field at NHS and UF. Gabriel was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Liberato Gutierrez.

Gabriel is survived by his parents, Gilbert and Julie Gutierrez, his brothers, Gage and Gavin, his paternal grandmother, Rosalie Guiterrez, his maternal grandparents, Linda and Bruce Jacobs, and his maternal grandfather, Jerry Ranson, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Navarre in Navarre, Florida, on Saturday, April 1st. Visitation will be held from 12-1 and the service at 1:00 P.M.
