Eleanor Lillian Nicoloff

June 6, 1930 ~ June 16, 2020 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Tribute

Eleanor Lillian Nicoloff, of Shalimar, Florida, passed away in the early morning on

Tuesday, June 16th, 2020. She was born in Chicago, IL on June 6th, 1930, and raised

by her parents, Helen Youngreen Rapp and Norval Blattner Rapp. She shall be

remembered for being a loving and dedicated wife to her husband of 63 years, and an

exemplary example of a Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She received

her B.S. Degree from George Williams College in Chicago, IL. where she met her

husband, George Nicoloff. She retired early from teaching physical education after six

years to become a homemaker and to travel the world as an Air Force wife. Among the

many places they were stationed; Lincoln, Nebraska, Hawaii, Arizona, Mississippi,

England and the Philippines, before settling down in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.

It takes a special type of woman who can run a household and take care of the children

while her husband was off fighting in the Vietnam War. Ellie was that sort of woman, a

strong woman who saw it as her duty to keep the home fires burning while her husband

served our country. Eleanor (Ellie) lived a full life as a wonderful Mother, Wife and

Homemaker. She loved to cook, and kept an immaculate house. Once they retired to

Florida, they settled down and lived a nice, quiet life in Shalimar, gardening, breeding

dogs, and raising their three children. In their twilight years, Ellie took swim classes at

the local YMCA, took cooking classes, and was an avid fan of the NW Florida Raiders

Basketball team. They also embarked on a trip of a lifetime to Mascedonia, George’s

birth country, to visit his homeland and meet relatives. She was a Shalimar resident

and member of the Shalimar United Methodist Church for 49 years. Her life was a living

example of Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - “And be kind and compassionate to one

another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

Eleanor (Ellie) is predeceased by her Father and Mother. She is survived by sons,

James (Zulima) and Thomas (Tamara) Nicoloff, daughter Lynn (David) Everts, one

sister, Gerry Ramsey, seven grand-children, Karen (Kenneth) Baker, Jack, Audrey and

Ben Nicoloff, Allen Parkinson, and Tyler and Ryan Everts, and three

great-grandchildren, Amelia, Isabel and James Baker.

Memorial donations can be made to Shalimar United Methodist Church.
