Edward Vernon Worrall

Edward Vernon Worrall died at the age of 72 on July 26, 2021, at his home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  He had been under hospice care the last days of his life for pain management associated with a terminal illness.

Edward Vernon Worrall was born on August 19, 1948, to parents Robert Lloyd & Mary Pauline Worrall at Maxwell A.F.B. in Montgomery, Alabama.  His parents preceded him in death:  Father, Lt. Col. Robert Lloyd Worrall (USAF retired), died in 1989 and Mother, Mary Pauline Worrall, died in 2020.  Edward is survived by older brother, Robert Lee Worrall, of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; nieces Rhonda Worrall Munnerlyn and Wendy Worrall Garabedian; nephew, Robert Leslie Worrall, three great nephews, and three great nieces.

Edward was born with significant cerebral palsy issues, which challenged him throughout his life.  Despite these, he always demonstrated a zest for life and living.  Edward moved to Ft. Walton Beach in 1967, when his parents bought their retirement home on Cinco Bayou.  He was most happy riding down the sidewalk or road on a three-wheel bike alongside his friends, safety flags blowing in the wind--off to see a movie, play a round of miniature golf, or attend a church function.

Edward belonged to the Cinco Baptist Church earlier in life and, more recently, to St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Ft. Walton Beach.  Both churches showed Edward enormous amounts of love, compassion, and understanding.  His family greatly appreciated this support.

The family would also like to thank Edward’s caregiver, Sheila A. Brown, of Ft. Walton Beach, for taking Edward into her home and providing for his needs, as he grew older and more infirmed.  Ms. Brown’s dedication and commitment enabled Edward to live out his life in a loving environment in Ft. Walton Beach—his beloved home for over 50 years.

Edward Vernon Worrall will be buried in the “Peace” section of Beal Memorial Cemetery in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.  A rosary is scheduled for Monday, August 2, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Fort Walton Beach followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m.  A reception will be held after the burial at Sheila Brown’s home. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Horizons of Okaloosa County.
