Edna Cotton, 92, passed away at her home in Lando' Lakes, FL with her daughter Dena by her side. Edna was born and raised in Columbus, GA and was a graduate of Jordan Vocational High School. With her sisters, Mrs. Cotton was a frequent visitor to the Fort Walton Beach, Destin area in the 1940's.
In August of 1950 she married Doyle Cotton. In 1951, he was drafted during the Korean War. They were stationed in Rapid City, South Dakota while he was in the Air Force. They moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1956 where her husband worked for Eglin Air Force Base/ VITRO. They were very active members of their local community, and were charter members of the Fort Walton Beach Church of Christ where Doyle served as a deacon. In 1965 they opened a discount fabric store together known as Cotton's Fabrics.
After losing her husband in 1967 she continued to run her store for 30 years and finally retiring in 1995. She was a respected business woman and set a great example for others, she has met and touched multiple people's lives in her life time. There was never a dull moment with her sense of humor never failing to make a positive impact on others. She loved her children and spent her time traveling with her daughters, she loved watching and talking sports with her children, and being the best, mom she could be.
Mrs. Cotton was preceded in death by her husband Doyle, her daughter Pam, and her son Keith. She is survived by her daughter Dena Klaban and husband Joe; her grandchildren Andrea Klaban, Christopher Klaban, Savannah Cotton; her sister Lois Gassett Parker, sister-in-law Carol Maples, daughter-in-law Tena Cotton Moskalski; and several nieces and nephews.
Her services will be held at Emerald Coast Funeral home on January 26, 2019 at 11AM, interment will follow in Seal Memorial Cemetery. She will be missed but she is with the Lord and reunited with her family, dancing with her husband and children again.
