Dudley Moreno Rogers, age 83, of Santa Rosa Beach passed away at home on August 1, 2018. He was born in Milton, Florida, on May 29, 1935. In his early years, he lived in Milton before his family moved to Fort Walton Beach.
He was preceded in death by his wife, and the love of his life of 65 years, Noberta Gonzalez Rogers. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Scarritt Solomon and Inez Rogers, as well as his older brother, Sylveston (Sil) Rogers. His brother, Holley Rogers, survives him, as well as his four children: Rose Marie Spafford (Mark), Judith (Judy) Rogers Watson (Jeff), Kenneth Dudley Rogers (Sonja), and Jeffery Rogers (fiancée Susan). Dudley has eight grandchildren: Jamie Pitts, Jonathan Spafford, Lindsey Burns (Jeff), Lauren Freel (Duncan), Ashley Watson, Lewis Olsen Rogers, Kyle Rogers, and Danielle Rogers. He was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild in November.
Dudley and Noberta spent their retirement years living in Babbie, Alabama, where they had many friends from church and they loved to fish on their ponds, pick blueberries, and pecans. They were members of the First United Methodist Church in Opp, AL, but recently returned to Dudley’s native roots in Florida living in Santa Rosa Beach.
Dudley was a charter member of the Destin BPOE #2688, was a past exalted ruler and represented the Panhandle where he was a past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler and a state Vice President. He was also a member of the Krewe of Billy Bowlegs. He loved hunting, fishing, and country music. When he was younger, he was a high school sports referee. He loved his two dogs, Sara and Bruno.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 10th at 1pm at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation and fellowship to celebrate Dudley’s life from 12:00 until the time of Service. Burial will follow at the Destin Cemetery. His family would like to thank all those who cared for him as well as the many friends he made along the way.
