Douglas Leroy Jantzen

Douglas Jantzen was born on September 10, 1956 in Frankfort, Germany to Charles & Shirley Johnston during his father’s military assignment.  After Charles’ death in 1960, his mother remarried & Doug was adopted by Lewis Jantzen.

Doug enlisted in the Air Force on September 10, 1974.  After 12 years of service he attained the rank of Master Sargent while continuing his education.  He was accepted to Officer’s Training School & received his commission in May 1987.  Doug served an additional 29 years retiring 1 Jun 2015 at the rank of Lt Col.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his son Douglas Jr; son David (Jennie) & their 2 children, Alana & William; son Daniel (Bettina) and two sisters; Debbie Mahuron & Kandy Herrman.  Doug was a beloved husband, father, brother, grand daddy, a dedicated serviceman, and trusted friend.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, July 16 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Emerald Coast Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 17, at 1 pm at Westwood Baptist Church in Ft Walton Beach.  Interment will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
