Douglas A. Last

Douglas A. Last, age 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. Doug was a long-time resident of Shalimar, FL and Seattle, WA.

Doug was born January 6, 1947 in Seattle, WA to Arnold and Audrey Last. He was joined in marriage for 54 years to Kathryn Holden Last. Doug was a dedicated employee of United Lighting & Supply Co. in Fort Walton Beach.

Doug was a humble and devoted husband and father.  He enjoyed collecting baseball and football trading cards. He was a passionate Seattle Seahawks and University of Washington Huskies football fan.  He liked fishing-related activities (mostly on television) and occasional trips to Biloxi, MS casinos.  Doug loved going on camping trips often utilizing his hand crafted creations.  Visiting salmon and fish hatcheries was one of Doug’s favorite pastimes.  He also had a lifelong love for dogs. 

Doug is survived by his wife, Kathy Last and his three children, Jeff Last, Kristen Last, and Brian Last along with Brian’s wife Christy and their two adored children, Andrew and Aiden Last. Doug is also survived by his brother Gary Last (Connie) of Navarre Beach, FL and sister Julie Boyd (Robert) of Lynnwood, WA. Also by his mother-in law, Elizabeth Holden and her children, Mary Fisher (Robert) of FWB, John Holden of Shalimar, and Jeanne Bowes (Bill) of DeFuniak Springs, FL along with all of their extended families.

Unfortunately, due to the current COVID situation, there will be a small family memorial service. In lieu of flowers, Doug’s family asks that you honor his memory by doing something thoughtful, caring, or compassionate for others. Donations may be made to your local Salvation Army, organizations that help children in need, or PAWS.
