Dorothy Troester Peterson

Dorothy Troester Peterson, Age 91, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, passed away on September 22nd, 2022. Born in Midvale, Utah she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Bessie Troester (Facey).

Dorothy graduated from Jordan High School in 1949 and went on to attend the University of Utah. On July 15th, 1957, she married to Earl R. Peterson, and they had three sons: Cory, Darren, and Barry Peterson. In 1968 Dorothy and her family moved to Fort Walton Beach, where she worked for Edwin Watts Golf Shops as head of their accounting department for 18 years. In retirement, Dorothy and Earl embraced traveling and visited most of the United States and Europe, as well as Russia, China, Australia, and New Zealand.

Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Methodist and served as an organist and accompanist for the Children’s Choir, Friendship Sunday School Class, and others. Dorothy also served on several committees, including the Administrative Board and Council of Ministries. Serving as a member of the United Methodist Women, she held positions as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Mission Coordinator. Dorothy was a life member of the Mizpah Chapter No. 5, Order of the Eastern Star, a Nell Chance Award Nominee, and named a Woman of Honor in 2021 by the Okaloosa County Commission on the Status of Women.

She was predeceased by her Husband, Earl Peterson, her brother, Richard F. Troester, and her three sons, Cory Peterson, Darren S. Peterson, and Barry Peterson. Her grandson, Darren E. Peterson, survives her.

A visitation will take place on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 403 Racetrack Road NW, Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32547 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to immediately follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
