Dorothy Jean Kent of Fort Walton Beach, passed away at the age of 74 on July 11, 2018.
Dottie was born on September 13, 1943 in Exeter, NH. She is preceded in death by her parents Doris(Marple) and Theodore Remick and her twin sister Diane Helen Provencher of Florence, AZ.
Dottie is survived by her husband of 54 years, TSgt. William H. Kent (Retired), daughter Dina Ann Flores and her husband Miguel of Tell City, IN, son Jeffrey William Kent and his wife Stephanie of San Antonio, TX, daughter Michelle Katherine LaPointe and her fiancé John Cook of Seguin, TX, step-daughter Susan Louise Treaster and her husband Ron of Eustis, FL, and step-daughter April Marie Kent of Mt.Dora, FL. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins scattered across the country.
To her family she was a beloved daughter, sister, devoted wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. To those who were lucky enough to know her, she will be remembered as a kind friend and educator. Though she had many interests and hobbies, she will be most fondly remembered for her love of books, cats, gardening and crossword puzzles.
When her children were young, Dottie began volunteering in the library at Florosa Elementary School and was soon hired as an Assistant Librarian/Media Specialist. Former students will remember her for her animated readings at "Story Time". After more than 20 years with Florosa, she became a co-teacher for ESC students at Bruner Middle School until her retirement in 2013.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and the American Cancer Society.
