Dot graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1944 where she remained an active leader of the alumni class of 1944 and was the editor of the quarterly newsletter that went out to more than 200 graduates. Dot married the love of her life, Eugene Daughtry, on March 18, 1948. They were married for 73 years.
She attended business college and had a career in finance in Birmingham, first working for many years at City Federal Savings & Loan Association and then as VP at SouthTrust Bank.
