Dorothy Lou "Dot" Daughtry was born on September 14, 1927, in Birmingham, Alabama, and died on July 4, 2021, in Mary Ester, Florida, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John William "Bill" Norris and Savannah Maude Alley Norris.

Dot graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1944 where she remained an active leader of the alumni class of 1944 and was the editor of the quarterly newsletter that went out to more than 200 graduates. Dot married the love of her life, Eugene Daughtry, on March 18, 1948. They were married for 73 years.
She attended business college and had a career in finance in Birmingham, first working for many years at City Federal Savings & Loan Association and then as VP at SouthTrust Bank. She was the President of the Alabama Savings & Loan Associations, President of the American Business Women's Association, and a member of both The Business and Professional Women's Foundation and Zonta International.

Dot was a charter member of Huffman Presbyterian and Oakmont Presbyterian Churches and a longtime active member at Shades Valley Presbyterian Church from 1963 to 2014. She was also a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church from 2014 to 2018 before moving to Florida and joining First Presbyterian Church in Fort Walton Beach. While attending Huffman, Oakmont, and Shades Valley, she served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Presbyterian Women's Circle leader.

Dot loved Auburn football, reading, painting, coloring, traveling, playing cards and dominos, and spending time with her family and friends, whom she loved immensely. She never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone.

Dot is survived by her husband, Gene; daughter, Sharon Daughtry Shuler (John); grandsons Andy Acton (Elizabeth), and Ben Acton (Rachel); and three great-grandchildren, Katie, Nate, and Davis Acton.
