Dorothy “Dot” Clarno – Age 95, longtime resident of Fort Walton Beach, FL passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 24, 2017.   She was born on July 7, 1922 in Kearney, Nebraska to William and Marie LaCornu. She married Edward Clarno, her high school sweetheart, on June 12, 1943 and they moved to the Fort Walton Beach area in 1953.

She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who loved to cook for her family and friends and bake her famous chocolate chip cookies.

In addition to her family, some of her favorite accomplishments were working as a secretary in Washington DC for the FBI, traveling to all 50 States, mostly by car, living for a time in Hawaii and volunteering over 18,500 hours for the Fort Walton Beach Hospital Auxiliary.

Her loving husband of 71 years and her two granddaughters, Traci Clarno and Chasity Oliver, precede her in death.

She is survived by her sister, Jerri Mears of Kearney, Nebraska, four children, Terry Clarno, Patty Bolling, Candy Hower and Jan Clarno; nine grandchildren, Robin Anchors, Susan Coup, Charity Hube, Robert Bolling, Jason Bolling, Stephen Clarno, Teresa Arrowsmith, Danielle Burrus, Cassie Bullock; nine great-grandchildren, Trent Askegard, Kelsy Hube, Jordan Hube, Maya Bolling, Isabele Bolling, Andreanna Anderson, Zoe Bolling, Maddox Clarno, Jackson Bullock and two great-great grandchildren; Brantley Anderson and Brooklyn Askegard.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 3:00pm at Emerald Coast Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service for visitation.

The family wants to acknowledge and extend a special thank you to Helen, her caregiver and to Emerald Coast Hospice for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Emerald Coast Hospice.
